21st Amendment - Back n Black

Can poured black with a light brown head that slowly settles to a nice foaming ring with good lacing.

Aromas are malty, toasted malt notes, subtle molasses sweetness with hints of hops.

Flavors are of rotated bitter malts, very subtle citrus notes with a dry hoppy bite at end.

Finish; a mix between a brown and a pale ale.  There is a sweetness that carries throughout with a brown ale toastyness and an IPA hoppyness.  Good beer for a "pickanick", not quite a session beer but very close!

Dog Fish Head - Robert Johnsons Hell Hound On My Ale

Bottle poured a slight hazy copper color with a slight white head that settled quickly to a ring of good lacing.

Aromas of tropical fruit and malts with citrus notes and pine.

Bitter malty flavors with numbing citrus notes, subtle toffee undertones with hints if cherries!

Finish; bitter throughout....citrus and tropical flavors stick out very subtle sweet toffee flavors poke in, in the middle.  It ends "bitter" and dry with a numbing sensation at the back of the tongue.

3 Floyds/Brew Dog - bitch please

Bottle poured a hazy brown with a cooper hue, light brown head that settled, lacing is solid.

Aromas of toffee, oak and peat with notes of hops and subtle maltyness.

Peated Scotch Whisky flavors up front, spicy wood notes follow with hops and bitter malts trailing.

The Finish - It is like drinking a Scotch Whisky in the beginning then transitions to an Imperial IPA.  I was slow coming around to this beer but have come to love it...very different but not too far.

Shmaltz-Hebrew 16th Anniversary Ale

Bottle pours black, minimal dark brown head, fair lacing...with the viscose pore I assumed the lacing would be significantly more.

Aromas of boozy dark fruit (fig, cherries, prunes) subtle hop spices, smoke with woody notes.

Sweet strong flavors of fig, rains, dates and alcohol.  There are woody undertones with a spicy molasses wang.

The Finish - very sweet...very boozy...allot of dark fruit notes. Reminiscent to the Sam Adams triple boch I had years ago.

Double Rogue

Bottle poured black with a brown, slight head and small lacing that clings well to the glass.

Aromas of vanilla and chocolate with subtle notes of wood and maple.  Undertones of hops and spices.  Creme-brulee comes to mind!

The Finish - Very strong creme-brulee notes.  It is on the sweeter side but with a bitter malty backbone.  Finishes dry and creamy!  Great desert beer.
